Henrik von Henrikson (1806 - 1891) of the Henrikson Institute was a bio-chemical phyics-psychiatrist who fathered the idea of modern day Dianetics. His ideas would later go on to inspire L. Ron Hubbard with his ideas on Scientology as well as Edward Bernays and his psychoanalysis meets marketing techniques..

Early Life

Henrik von Henrikson was the son of Rasmus von Henrikson, a christian-logging extremist with ties to the ancient Swedish monarchy and Tekla von Vilhelm, a Geatish left-wing women's right protester. Due to the secrecy of their relationship and the outrage that it would have caused in early 19th century Sweden, the two lovers gave Henrik away for adoption. Over the course of 4 weeks during 1809, Rasmus & Henrik travelled east from his family home in Umea into the battle grounds of the current Russian invasion of what is now called Finland. It was during this time that Rasmus met and befriended Vasily Zhukovsky a Russian bear tamer from 'Tula Oblast' who later became Russia's formost poet of the 1810's and upon meeting Rasmus penned his beautiful poem, The Mysterious Visitor. Vasily promised Rasmus that he would look after Henrik and keep in contact with him regarding his upbringing. However due to the distance between the two and Vasily's obsession with teaching bears to speak Korean, Henrik lost touch with his parents for the rest of his life. It was due to this loss of connection that spurred Henrik to help Vasily with his Bear research.

Bears

Vasily's career as a up and coming poet made his contact time with his local Bear group grow thin, often leaving the Bears for hours whilst he would be wined and dinned by the Russian Elite. Henrik, feeling the loss of his parents stepped in and started to succeed at teaching the Bears of Tula Oblast to sing as well as talk. He became extremely successful with his teaching technique which he then adapted so that he could teach Moose to lip read. His growing success with Animal Training got him noticed by leading Animal Husbandry writer Nora Strangeways. She invited Henrik over to Bavaria to help her with her new book that she was writing about the subject. It was in Bavaria that Henrik met the Strangeways family and made a very powerful impression on Nora's brother, Bartholomew Strangeways.

Further Education

It was whilst in residence in Bavaria that Henrik used the trust fund that is father Rasmus had setup for him when he was born. Henrik discovered before he left for Bavaria that Vasily was using the money on hookers and drugs, aswell as to fund his lavish poet life-style. He swiftly went about moving the trust-fund over to his name and used the money to study chemistry, physics and psychiatry at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. It was here that his ideas on Animal Psychiatry opened up a whole new world in relation to the Human mind and also where he developed his theories on the three parts of human consciousness; The Analytical Mind, The Subconscious Mind & the Reactive Mind. These ideas where mainly disregarded by the Bavarian scholars of the time but where later discovered, long after Henriks death, by L Ron Hubbard and used to form the basis of his new religion, 'Scientology'.

Escape

Whilst he finished his doctorate in Munich, Henrik was savagely injured by his house Bear, Francis. Francis was able to talk three languages and could also cook. Apparently the two had had some dispute about the cleanliness of the kitchen, when Francis decided to rip Henriks left arm off in rage. Henrik managed to get to his rifle cupboard whilst fending off Francis and proceeded to blow the bears face off. Henrik's arm was successfully saved but he was forever emotionally scared by the event and could never work with animals again. Soon after, due to the trauma, he moved to Stepney, London, where he continued his research into what would later be called 'Dianetics'.

Institute

Whilst in London Henrik became a popular guest lecturer on the his original subject of Animal Psychiatry and along with Bartholomew Strangeways began to set up his bio-chemical research laboratory 'The Henrikson Institute'. Little is known about the institute due to the huge fire that occurred there in 1846 where everyone apart from Henrik was killed. Over 40 staff, 200 animals and 744 research projects where lost. Among the wreckage strange disfigured mammals where found and a huge newspaper investigation was carried out to find out what the Institute had been doing for the last 5 years. Again little was unearthed and Henrik himself became a recluse due to the pressure of the newspapers. He died in his Stepney home, covered in the bear skin of Francis in 1891.
