The Time Hammer was invented by Prof. Bartholomew Strangeways in1852. It allows the holder to move themself or any other object back in time just a few seconds. Its orignal name came from when Dr David B Pockulates first used it, saying 'Lets hammer back time, lets Hammer Time'. Some people say there is some connection between the name and huge number one hit by MC Hammer, You Can't Touch This. The device was later renamed to the more scientific name, the 'Interstellar Time Wave Modulator'.
The Time Hammer, is based on sending resonating time waves at a very low cyclic speed, often the same speed as the human brain, 8 to 9.5hz. These slow time waves modulate the area around the object or the person holding the device, depending if the OBJECT/SELF selector switch is depressed, and move that object back in time by a rough increment of 1 minute. There is no way to set the time that you want to travel to in the past, as the speed of the time waves dicates the amount of time displacement. Strangeways did experiment with faster cycles but found these would merely heat the object or holder of the Time Hammer by a huge amount.
The Time Hammer was used by William Trainee by accident when doing lab preporations for Holloway and Strangeways. More information on this can be found here.
